Belpre City School District Celebrates School Board Recognition Month this January. The Belpre City School District will join more than 700 school districts throughout Ohio to celebrate January as School Board Recognition Month. Our school board members are citizen-servants who shoulder critical responsibilities and often make difficult choices for our district, all with minimal pay. Their focus is always on the future success of the children in our district. Celebrating School Board Recognition Month is one way to say thanks for all they do. Serving as a link between the community and classroom, school board members are elected to establish the policies that provide the framework for public schools. Board members serving Belpre City Schools are: Mrs. Brenda Church (5 years of service), Mr. Fred Meredith (11 years of service), Mr. Mike Miller (3 years of service), Mrs. Cathy O’Donnell (5 years of service), and Mr. Leonard Wiggins (11 years of service).
This month during the January Organizational meeting the Board members will be appointed to serve on various committees. During the past year Mr. Wiggins has not only served as Board President, he also served as the Ohio School Boards Association Student Achievement Liaison for 2020, Personnel Evaluation Committee for the Superintendent for 2020, the Insurance/Wellness Committee, and Buildings and Grounds Committee for 2020. Each of our Board members have given countless hours to various committees for 2020. Mrs. Church served as our Ohio School Boards Association Legislative Liaison, Negotiation Committee, the Personnel Evaluation Committee for the Superintendent, and District Policy Committee. Mr. Meredith long time community member gave of his time on the Personnel Evaluation Committee for the Treasurer, Buildings and Grounds Committee, and the Finance Committee. Mr. Miller has served on the Athletic Committee, Negotiating Committee, and Finance Committee. Mrs. O’Donnell has also served our school district and students on the Athletic Committee, the Personnel Evaluation Committee for the Treasurer, and District Policy Committee.
It’s more important than ever that communities support public education so that today’s students are prepared to be productive citizens and the leaders of tomorrow. Please take a moment and tell school board members ‘thanks for caring about our children and giving so much to our community.’ Let them know we support them and that their dedicated service is recognized and truly appreciated.
