Recap of the last couple days of Belpre Basketball. Last night the boys came away with a big 52-37 TVC win at Waterford! The fellas were led by Junior Bass with 18 and Derek Liston with 17. Chris Copen chipped in with 10 including a rim breaking dunk. On Saturday afternoon the girls played a really tough Athens team. The ladies came up a little short but played a nice game and stayed in it until the end. We were led by Gracie Bills with 18. Haley Alloway finished with 10 and Chey Parsons with 9. Great effort from both teams! The boys are back in action this week at Meigs on Tuesday. JV tips off at 6. The ladies take the court again Thursday at St Mary's High School against Moorefield WV. Please read the entire update for tonight's boys varsity basketball game at Waterford. There will be no JV game tonight due to us not having enough players to field both teams due to illness. The varsity game will start at 7. Doors will not be open until 6. Also, Waterford just got a new gym floor and is asking any non players to please stay off the floor. We have so many talented artists at BHS! Nathen Smith, Kaedence Mulligan, and Blake Rodgers all had their artwork published in the Marietta Times 2024 Calendar. The theme is year was "Barns."

We are pleased to report that repairs are complete and the heating system at Belpre Elementary is up and running. We will see everyone tomorrow for school as normally scheduled.

We have made progress on the heating repairs for Belpre Elementary but we are still waiting on a critical component to arrive. Belpre Elementary will remain closed Tuesday, January 9, 2024. Thank you for your continued patience and we looked forward to reopening as soon as possible.

Congratulations to the varsity boys on a huge win over TVC foe Trimble last night! The boys pulled out a 57-50 win, led by a balanced scoring attack. Blake Church led the Golden Eagles with 16, followed by Derek Liston with 14 and Nasaih Spencer with 13. Great all around game by the fellas with a lot of key defensive plays and big rebounds. The JV team dropped a tough one 33-26. JV boys were led by Malik Currie with 15. The boys are back in action on Joe Garrett Court Tuesday night against a really tough Marietta team. Belpre Elementary School’s heating system failed earlier today. We have had crews on-site today working diligently to identify the problem and to bring the system back online. Due to the nature of the problem, and the age of the system, custom parts have had to be ordered that will take sometime to arrive. We will have crews working through the weekend to make appropriate fixes while we wait for the parts for a final repair. Accordingly, Belpre Elementary School will be closed Monday, January 8 with the possibility of additional days beyond that depending on when the parts arrive and the repairs can be completed. We will notify parents by 5:00 pm each evening if an additional day of closure will be required. Grades 7-12 and the preschools will continue to operate as normally scheduled. We sincerely apologize for the delay and will work diligently so we can get our learners back into our building as soon as possible.
Two good wins for the Belpre Jr High boys tonight! Seventh grade used a balanced scoring attack to beat Pleasants County 38-27. The team was led by Chase Ullman with 10 points. He was followed by Drew Williams with 9, Mason Baxter with 8, and Logan Norman with 7. The eighth graders won a close one 37-35. They were led by AJ Copen with 25 big points and Mason Henthorne chipping in with 7. Great job tonight fellas! Keep working! #GOEAGLES #BELPREPRIDE
While our students have a bit more time on Winter Break before returning, teachers are back to school and participating in Professional Development. Teachers are wrapping up their final year of our strategic plan around our Portrait of a Graduate and are planning engaging units and projects to implement in the last semester of school.
