Just to clarify, tonight's Jr High girls basketball game tips off at 6pm at Belpre Elementary School. #GOEAGLES #BELPREPRIDE

The Pride of Belpre can't stop winning! Last week , Mr. VanPelt accepted a $20,000 grant from the PACF to purchase new musical equipment. On top of that, last night the performing arts boosters accepted a state level award from OMEA for support group of the year!
We couldn't be more proud of the entire performing arts program!

Weekend update from Belpre High School sports! Both the Jr High and Varsity wrestling teams competed at Waterford. On Saturday. Michael Bills picked up 3 wins on his way to a 7th place finish while Luke Davis also picked a victory by pin fall. Kayleigh Sheldon was unable to come away with a victory but showed a lot of grit and toughness and the wins are right around the corner. The Jr High featured 2 wins and a 4th place finish by Joey Lockhart and a win from Gavin Henthorne.
On Sunday the boys varsity team took to the floor at Shawnee State against South Webster at the Battle in the 740. The guys fell short to a really strong Jeeps team, 77-54. We were up at the half but couldn't overcome foul trouble and South Webster's hot shooting in the second half. Boys were led by Nasaih Spencer with 18, followed by Junior Bass with 12 and Blake Church with 11. #BELPREPRIDE #GOEAGLES

The live stream of the boys basketball game at Shawnee St is available on YouTube. Just type in Battle in the 740 Day 2. #GOEAGLES #BELPREPRIDE

Doing one long post to recap the last 2 exciting nights of Belpre Basketball! Last night's triple header got us started with a tough 26-22 loss for our Jr High ladies to Southern. Girls played hard and fought to the end, led by Calli Meredith, with 12 big points. From there the JV girls used a balanced attack for an abbreviated 15-9, 2 quarter win over Trimble. Varsity girls then brought it home with a huge 62-35 win over previously unbeaten Trimble. The Lady Eagles were led by Julia Way with 22 and Gracie Bills with 13. Alivia Harrington and Haley Alloway both finished in double figures with 11 a piece. Tonight at Eastern the JV boys suffered a closer than the score loss, 45-37. We were led by Chase Maze with 13. Haiden Tabler and Malik Currie each threw in 9. The varsity boys then took the floor and won by a commanding score of 67-42. The boys were led by Derek Liston with 23, followed by Nasaih Spencer and Junior Bass, each finishing in double figure with 16 and 11 respectively. Overall it was a great two nights of basketball for all of our athletes. We're all really proud of each of you. Tomorrow let's hit the wrestling mats at Waterford at 10am! #GOEAGLES #BELPREPRIDE

Pizza Time!
The advanced cooking flex project finally busted out the pizza oven they put together themselves. Students were able to make and bake their own pizza, learning valuable cooking skills in the process!

Thank you to the Washington County Court of Common Pleas for allowing our Mock Trial team time and place to practice for its upcoming competition. This year's case involves the 8th amendment protection against unreasonable fines and penalties. The team will compete against teams from across the region in January!

Over the last few weeks, the Spanish 3/4 students have been learning about the rainforest... in Spanish! To demonstrate that they understood what they have learned, and to give them an opportunity to learn more through research, the students worked in 4 groups to create dioramas of each of the 4 layers of the rainforest. Each group was given a locker to use as their diorama so that students who passed by could learn, too! They presented about their layer using their locker-dioramas in Spanish, then wrote a short paper about the layer. They had a blast using their creativity to show off their knowledge in this unique way!

The Golden Eagle boys grind out a tough win over a physical Athens team 53-50. Belpre was led by Junior Bass with a game high 20 points followed by Derek Liston with 13. Awesome job guys, to all of you! On to Eastern on Friday night.
