Huge shoutout to both our boys and girls varsity teams this weekend. Both teams competed successfully in the St Mary's WV Shootout. The boys won the championship with a hard fought win over Ritchie County by a 56-53 margin. The boys were led by freshmen AJ Copen who had a huge night with 26 points including 7 three pointers! Nasaih Spencer chipped in with 12 and Carson Moore added 8! The fellas bested Frontier on Thursday by a score of 49-35 to advance to the finals. We were led by Malik Currie with a dozen and AJ Copen with 11. The ladies came through with a runner up finish to a 14-1 St Mary's team. The girls ended a whirlwind stretch of 3 games in 3 nights. They started the weekend with a big conference win over Southern at home to move to 5-2 in the TVC. They followed that up with a 43-39 come from behind win over a 10-4 Frontier team. We were led in scoring that game by Haley Alloway with 13, Gracie Bills with 10, and Julia Way with 8. In the championship Bills led the way with 13, followed by Alloway's 9 and Way's 8. Overall it was a great weekend of hoops for both of our teams and we're really proud of all of them! Making the all tournament team for the girls was Julia Way and Gracie Bills! For the boys it was AJ Copen, Nasaih Spencer, and Carson Moore! Great job everyone! #FlyEaglesFly #BelprePride #TrueToBHS

Your Belpre boys basketball team comes away with a victory in a thriller with a 52-50 win over TVC foe Waterford. Trailing by 4 with less than a minute to play, AJ Copen buried a 3 from the corner to cut the Wildcat lead to 1. After 2 Waterford free throws Copen nailed a second 3 from the corner to tie the game at 50. After a Waterford traveling violation Belpre got the ball back with 4 seconds remaining. After a timeout, Belpre missed the tying shot but Malik Currie found his way to the offensive glass and tipped in the game winner as time expired! Huge win for our fellas as they climb to 4-0 in conference play. AJ Copen led the way with 24 points including 6, 3 pointers! Great game fellas! We're all proud of you! The boys travel to Southern Monday for another conference matchup with JV tip-off scheduled for 3 pm with varsity to follow. The girls head to Warren on Monday for a 5pm start. Hope to see everyone at one of the games! #BelprePride #FlyEaglesFly #TrueToBHS
