Mr. Ryan Leasure’s Life Skills Training class includes workbooks to complete as the class progresses. The workbooks contain activities to go along with the class content. In hopes of encouraging student achievement in life skills training, cash prizes were awarded to the top three students who produced the best, most complete workbooks! Pictured above is our first place winner, Katherine Leiter. Her workbook was outstanding! Cash prizes were also awarded to the second and third place winners yesterday as well. All three students were thrilled about their rewards and proud of themselves for the accomplishment!

The Post-School Readiness class enjoyed painting and setting up displays with the Holiday Lights Committee this morning and then spent the afternoon doing yard work for a wonderful elderly resident. The students took a lot pride in helping out today. Their next project is going to be raising money to provide appreciation baskets for nurses at local hospitals. If you’d like to donate to this project, please contact teacher Jen Wells at bc_jwells@belpre.k12.oh.us.

On November 3rd, our 7th grade young men traveled to the Belpre Masonic Lodge for a two-hour retreat dedicated to supporting and teaching some of the important things to know when entering middle school. A small contingent of Belpre High School teachers, administrators, counselors and social workers accompanied the students to facilitate the retreat and engage in dialogue with them. Important topics such as maintaining personal space, appropriate peer relations and communication, online social media conduct, and protecting public property were covered. Special presentations were provided by Sgt. Joe Kirby of the Belpre Police Department and Washington County Probation Officer Brockmeier. The retreat concluded with a powerful motivational speech by Coach Jimmie Bell on how legacies are built through actions and attitudes. "Shoot Your Shot!!"
